Hi Amber,

I'm going to email this directly to you as well, since you are looking at coming to Roatan in the next few days. To check on accommodations here is a great site that offers comparisons http://www.roatanet.com/hotel-comparison.php I'm thinking something in West End would be a good fit for you.

Rainy season came a little early this year and it is kind of hit and miss right now. We have been getting rain pretty much every night, with it being clear and sunny for part or all of the day. We did have a few days of steady rain last week though, so it is difficult to say what you will encounter.

Let me know what you decide I love to be able to say, "Welcome to Roatan!"

Hey!
I love your site, very informative. My boyfriend and I are planning to go to Roatan within the next couple days (we are currently in nicaragua) and are not sure if now is good time to visit. Is there still a lot of rain right now? Any sun? If the weather is good, can you recommend any nice places to stay that are less than $60 a night? Looking forward to your response!!

Hi Connie,
Welcome to Roatan!

Treat your "safety" as you would anywhere in the world (including where you are traveling from.)

Bring US dollars, don't worry about trying to convert to Lempiras before you come. US dollars are accepted everywhere on the Island and the change you get back will be in Lempiras. Use the smaller bills (the exchange rate is almost 20 to 1 so a L20 is worth about a dollar, a L100 is worth about $5.)for taxis, fruit vendors etc.

If you are here for a week or more, I suggest you check out a place called Hole in the wall, on the East End. If you are visiting for the day from a cruise ship and don't want to be where the majority of day visitors go, try Sundowners in West End. A great little beach bar right on Half Moon Bay Beach, you will find a lot of expats hanging out there...for the most part (smile) they are a friendly bunch.

Hello! My husband and I will be in Roatan on November 19th, this is our first trip and we are so excited! Is there any cautions we should be aware of? How much money should we exchange to limpura's? Can you tell of us of any great places we should definitely not miss? Especially ones that maybe the regular excursions would'nt take you to. You're extremely lucky to be living somewhere so beautiful, I used to live in Kauai and miss it immensley!

Sincerely,
Connie : )
